Maeve van Klaveren

(NL 1977)

Originally trained in fashion design (AMFI) via the studio Claudy Jongstra to drawing. With completely unique techniques of pastel, pencil, charcoal and watercolor, Maeve van Klaveren creates flowery still lifes in which the main characters are apparently present but at the same time absent. They are not there. Silent figures whose innermost feelings the viewer can guess, but who also offer space for those of the viewer. Soft but untouchable. Powerful, strange.

Maeve has already exhibited extensively several times at the Moving Gallery and has also successfully participated in several art fairs for the gallery. She sells relatively much work abroad (especially England via, among others, The Delphian). In November 2024 she will have a solo exhibition at the Kristin Hjellegjerde gallery in Berlin and next year at the same gallery in London.
