Alexandra Duprez
(Fr 1974)
Alexandra lives and works in Douarnenez, Brittany. The center of her work is the human body, a body which splits, fades and transforms, to become a being in constant mutation, half-animal, half-plant. By adding and covering, layer after layer, the artist creates what she calls “shreds of images”, fragments of a constantly reinvented story, with abundant ramifications. The eye wanders, as if in a metaphorical forest born from the artist’s unconscious. Its recurring motifs open a path towards the disturbing strangeness of its inner theater. Duprez likes to reuse old materials for her paintings and collages. For het smaller works she often uses old book covers as a canvas.
With er work Duprez speaks an universal language that is loved by people all over the world. She is successful in many countries and represented by several galleries. Since Works on Paper III Duprez is been on show many times in our exhibitions and art fairs in The Hague, Amsterdam and Berlin.
