Max Kisman

Illustrator and graphic designer and in those areas a great in the Netherlands but also internationally known among colleagues. Has been drawing weekly for Volkskrant Magazine for years but has drawn for almost all major Dutch newspapers and magazines. Pioneered in digital design and typography, designed many posters including for Paradiso, designed stamps. Taught at art academies, always in his recognizable style that is a mix of his Dutch and Indonesian roots. Was chief designer of the VPRO in the 90s, designed the technology magazine WIRED in the US. Has been keeping drawn diaries with great drawings for years. In recent years also as an artist. Recent exhibitions in Wereldmuseum Amsterdam and Centraal Museum Utrecht.
Kisman was on display at the Moving Gallery with a solo in the exhibition “Das tragedian Schicksal des Heldentums”, for which he created a huge, beautiful mural, and was also in the exhibitions Works on Paper I, II and III, Zwart op Wit and Editions. Kisman is also the designer of all the gallery’s posters.
